Colibria scores client for Presence enablement

Rating: About time Mobile IM started to take off

One of the victims of pre-Mobile World Congress fallout was Colibria. I was supposed to have a pre-briefing with them but I double-booked the call.
So I'm just going to have to guess what they wanted to talk to me about and judging from the Colibria web site, it might have had something to do with a client announcement – namely, Mobilkom Austria Group (MAG).
This operator has picked Coibria's Enrich product to help it roll out Presence across three territories - in Central and Eastern Europe, reaching a total of approximately 11 million subscribers.

OMA World: There's too many standards bodies

Rating: Orange gets into deep waters over MMS

Somebody from IBM once said, "I love industry standards. Let's have lots of them." He wouldn't have said the same thing about industry standards bodies though, I'm sure.

So my heart went out to Philippe Lucas, director of standards with France Telecom Orange who revealed to OMA World delegates in his speech that he has to deal with no fewer than 83 different technical bodies at present.

Worse still. Every now and then people come to him and suggest that Orange should join yet another technical initiative. His answer is why? Surely new issues could be dealt with by at least one of the existing mobile industry bodies?
