Mobile World Congress Parties GoMo News and Player X on Wednesday

Rating: omigod Wednesday night is hot!

I realise that the GoMo News blender is hot and starts at 6pm until 10pm in BelChica Barcelona (see here: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=20478158584)

I should also thank the fabulous MyStrands for sponsoring the event as well.

But I just received my Player X Dog Tags. Everyone invited to the Nokia Nseries Player X Barcelona Rocks party will stand out like a chav on the Wednesday with the blingy dogtags!

NO really. It’s a necklace and metal and just simply so OTT it strangely works!
It starts at 9pm is at Calle Plato 15, Sarria – Sant Gervasi in Cafe Noir. But you need an invite.

GSMA Annouces Global Mobile Awards at Mobile World Congress and Graham Norton as guest host

Rating: I love Graham Norton!

OK, I am blowing my own trumpet here as I was a judge for the GSMA Mobile Awards and I do know the results of Category 2 that I judged more here:
http://www.globalmobileawards.com/judges/bios.shtml#judge_cat2_5

I am looking for a mobile video company to set us up at the event with a device and blogging software so that we can instantly publish the results as they happen at the event – this will save me live blogging.

Can anyone help?

I look forward to the Awards and if you are attending let me know!

Security lessons from 3GSM Barcelona

Rating: Beware the ides of February

By Tony Dennis

A chance meeting with Martyn Warwick – who'd attended Telcordia's E5 conference with me last week – at London's Waterloo station sparked off a scintillating conversation about personal security at the forthcoming Mobile World Congress in Barcelona this February.

Martyn is an expert on this subject, having accumulated loads of information on the various muggings and thefts which take place every year in Barcelona during the conference.
Martyn revealed that his efforts to interview the good Burgers of Barcelona last year on the subject of pick-pocketing and muggings had proved fruitless.

CTIA: Dustin Moskovitz Liveblog

Rating: Many faces in the audience
By Tony Alton

09:24 - I have made it to the second big keynote of the event on time for once - Dustin Moskovitz the co-founder of Facebook is going to tell us how the social networking site de jour is embracing the mobile world.  The audience of about 500 people has also embraced the social media nature of the day and has largely turned up in jeans or has combined their suit with white trainers.  More to follow.

CTIA: Ballmer keynote liveblog

Rating: we are not worthy By Tony Alton
So i arrive 5 minutes late at the biggest CTIA keynote and have to squeeze past the overweight man on the end of the row, treading on his foot and spilling tea in his lap.  Steve Ballmer is already in full flow up on stage and his dictator-like delivery is typically punchy:

He is talking about how cellular networks are the ideal way of making sure software and services are kept as updated as possible whilst on the move.  Thick clients with thin back-ends are the model de jour apparently.  Steve is prophesising that bringing entertainment and enterprise together is a great opportunity for MS.  Enterprise computing like presence, IM, video conferencing and consumer applications like social networking and rich media should all collaborate in the phone apparently.
